1993 - The Bassheads had asked Polydor Records if they could do a remix of the classic 1980 Visage hit 'Fade To Grey', and asked me if he would like to do a remix of it as well. I leapt at the chance, as the original was one of my favourite tracks from that period. Having access to the original 2" master tape was very exciting! I remember the curiosity of discovering that on track 24 there was a strange dialogue recorded, I can only guess from a microphone in the control room of the studio while the original track was being recorded. It was totally mad! I don't know who was speaking, as it was a mix of several people: Steve Strange, Midge Ure & Billy Currie, perhaps. I remember there was one moment where someone is reading out the lyrics for the massive Ultravox hit 'Vienna'! It sounded like they were all having a lot of fun. This remix was recorded at my home and mixed at the Bassheads studio, where it was then sent off to Polydor. I never heard much back until, one day, the original music video was on the television and I was very surprised to hear my remix being overlaid onto the original images. No-one informed me! That was the biggest shock!"
